2 servings (of cooked rice); 1/2 rice (cups); 1-1/3 water (cups); 1/4 tsp salt (optional); 1 tsp Butter (or margarine); 5 min (microwave time). 4 servings (of cooked rice); 1 rice (cups); 2-1/4 water (cups); 1/2 tsp salt (optional); 2 tsp Butter (or margarine); 8 min (microwave time). 6 servings (of cooked rice); 1-1/2 rice (cups); 3-1/3 water (cups); 3/4 tsp salt (optional); 1 tbsp Butter (or margarine); 10 min (microwave time). 12 servings (of cooked rice); 3 rice (cups); 6 water (cups); 1-1/2 tsp salt (optional); 2 tbsp Butter (or margarine); 15 min (microwave time). Preparation Directions: Stovetop: 1. In 3-quart saucepan over high heat, bring water and rice to a boil; add butter and salt if desired. 2. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 20-25 minutes or until all water is absorbed. 3. Remove from heat, fluff with fork before serving. Microwave oven: 1. In a microwave-safe dish, combine water and rice; add butter and salt, if desired. 2. Cover and microwave on high (100% power) using times in table. Continue microwaving on medium (50% power) 20 minutes (Microwave ovens vary in power, adjust cooking time accordingly). 3. Remove from microwave; let stand 5 minutes and fluff with fork before serving. Caution container may be hot. Tip: For retain vitamins, do not rinse rice before or drain after cooking. For firmer rice, use less water and a shorter simmer time. For softer rice, use more water and a longer simmer time.
